Le fou ou la fou?

Godard is a genius. There is absolutely nothing more to it. In order to "study for French" - yeah, right - I watched Pierrot le Fou two nights ago and it surpassed my already high expectations. The film moves through these scenes of idyllic country life. This, combined with the perfect poeticism of the script, almost make the movie into an unconventional hundred and ten minute lament.
I thought the title was rather clever as well; le fou meaning the fool, and la fou meaning the crazy. That was rather fitting.

Film Favorites

The First Days of Spring - A Film By Noah And The Whale from charlie fink on Vimeo.

CRYSTAL FIGHTERS "AT HOME" ((OFFICIAL VIDEO)) from Crystal Fighters on Vimeo.

Pistachio French Macaron from dulcedelight on Vimeo.

The Ghosts (Teaser #1) from Eddie O'KEEFE on Vimeo.

These are some of the videos on vimeo I've really enjoyed this month; two music videos/films, a movie trailer, and a recipe for the ever wonderful French Macarons! I would certainly recommend an account on the site - I just got one - it's so superior to youtube. The films are creative and lovely, I spend too much time surfing through all of the latest uploads.

Daisies - Vera Chytilova

I watched Daisies late last night rather than sleeping, this movie was a perfect exisentialist/new-wave trip; I loved it. It was completely insane, and required quite a bit of reading between the lines - as all new wave flicks do - while keeping with themes present in 1960's alternative films similar to Godard, whose work I absolutely love. Anyways, existentialism aside, the movie was adorable, the script was chalked full of symbolism and the cinematography was spectacular - my only complaint was some of the quick colour changes giving me a bit of a headache - oh well.
