Well, if my life is made up of two things, it would be tea and fashion. I ran out of sleepy-time tea yesterday, which was a tragedy in itself, and have yet to buy more (how trivial my life is). The weather is warm for once! And, since it was absolutely beautiful outside, I ventured all the way into the backyard to take a few photos. It was, I swear, ten degrees out, and it was supposed to rain but never did. Then there was the mall trip, and of course I spent more money than necessary, buying a bath bomb at Lush (best purchase ever), Wonder Woman lipstick by MAC, and fake lashes. I am a bit of a MAC fan girl, I'd say a good 90% of the make up I use daily is made by the brand, including my brushes. An expensive obsession, I know.

I'm still reading Anna Karenina, though, my reading has been a little slow, since I've also been working my way through a Plath anthology and The Outsider by Albert Camus. I would really like to finish it this week, but I've got a massive amount of studying to do, so it seems a little impossible.

Ways to Drown

This week was possibly the most tiring in a while. I spent too much time watching movies or reading to take the time to sleep, which, apparently, has made me feel the need to smother myself with my scarf. C'est la vie - I slept for 12 hours last night, rather than watching the Joy Division biopic Control, like I had planned. Starbucks - my go-to lunch stop - just introduced their new, minimalist cups and treats. The cakepops are to die for - that's a complete exaggeration, I would not suggest dying for them, but they are really good. So I had the most adorable lunch ever, a strawberries and cream frappachino with a pink cakepop. Not nutritious, but it was certainly lovely.

Afterwards, my friends and I went to the book store; I bought the NME and a collection of Syliva Plath poetry. Best 20 dollars I've spent in a while, I would say. I've been reading Plath (she's already one of my favorite poets) nonstop since, and have completely, rather than partially, fallen in love with her work. Epitaph in 3 parts, Black Rook In Rainy Weather and Spinster are my new favorites. The more Plath poetry I read, the more apparent her love for Dylan Thomas is, you can see his influence in the lyricism of her poems.

Anyways; chili is on the stove, SLC punk is playing on my TV and I am craving a cup of tea.

Daisies - Vera Chytilova

I watched Daisies late last night rather than sleeping, this movie was a perfect exisentialist/new-wave trip; I loved it. It was completely insane, and required quite a bit of reading between the lines - as all new wave flicks do - while keeping with themes present in 1960's alternative films similar to Godard, whose work I absolutely love. Anyways, existentialism aside, the movie was adorable, the script was chalked full of symbolism and the cinematography was spectacular - my only complaint was some of the quick colour changes giving me a bit of a headache - oh well.

That Awkward Moment When the Seasons Don't Change

I am just about gaging for summer. Winter weather has gotten me down for the first time in months, and, I must say, it is not pleasant. Friday night goes as one might assume, filled with rebellion and alcohol induced hook ups. Who am I kidding, my life is not Skins - I am sitting in my living room, drinking sleepy-time tea out of a Disney mug with my dog and trying to decide which foreign film to see tomorrow. It doesn't get more 'bad-ass' than that. So, instead of having some semblance of a social life - they're completely overrated - I'll watch Les Amours Imaginaire and reminisce about the warmer months that have come and gone.
